Congratulations to Whetu Apaapa on an internal promotion

Ngā Mata Hiringa have recently promoted Whetu Apaapa to Operations Manager. Whetu started with the team as a Field Worker in December 2022 and says he's proud to be able to lead the whanau-first tīma.

"Our tīma is very whanau and whenua orientated, we all look out for each other and make sure we are doing our mahi to the best of our abilities to benefit our next generations".

Whetu has big plans for the Ngamanawa-led conservation project including connecting with other projects in the rohe, upskilling himself and the team through wananga and courses, and securing more funding to ensure project longevity.

"I'm forever grateful that I'm able to lead this team and be on the whenua everyday, preserving the ngahere and waahi tapu in our project blocks," he says.
