FAQ

  • We are currently piloting the Kaimai Mamaku Restoration Project investment model, and you can join us in this crucial phase. Simply email info@mkm.org.nz to discuss your needs.

  • This financing programme does not put a price on nature. The assets that make up natural infrastructure and deliver ecosystem services are priceless. You cannot buy these taonga or buy shares in them. They are not a tradeable commodity.

Instead, your investment will contribute to the actual cost of the people, processes and technology needed to maintain and restore these essential natural assets.

Your investment will fund on-the-ground restoration action that has an audited work plan and budget based on best practice methods for a three year period, and is supported by training, Health & Safety, and a monitoring programme.

  • The cost varies depending on the project.

The Kaimai Mamaku Restoration Project supports all community-led restoration. Any non-government entity or person protecting or restoring natural ecosystems in the project area can apply to be funded as long as they have an audited work plan and budget and provide regular accounts and data.

These projects could be comprised of volunteers, volunteers and paid staff, all paid staff, or have some contractor support. They could be planting native trees, removing weeds, controlling animals pests, monitoring, undertaking species management, or all of the above. The project might be well established or new. The particular characteristics of the project will determine the cost per hectare or per kilometre to undertake their restoration activity.

Investments in our current projects start from $500 per hectare, per year.

  • While every restoration project has a positive impact in its own right, the biggest biodiversity gains come from landscape-scale action that delivers resilience and function needed for a thriving ecosystem. In turn, that resilience and function supports thriving communities and economies.

A nature positive investment is also a fantastic way to deliver on business responsibility and impact reduction goals, and meet the expectations of your consumers and stakeholders.

As an investor, you will receive regular reports documenting the impact your investment is having, tailored to what your business goals are.
