HELP Waihi
This project aims to improve the natural environment in and around Waihi.
PURPOSE
HELP Waihi aims to improve the local natural environment of the Waihi ecological area. We have been doing this mahi for more than 20 years.
We’re proud to have our own work team and be able to offer support to other projects using volunteers. Focus areas include:
Ohinemuri Catchments
Lower eastern Coromandel catchments
Northern Bay of Plenty catchments (Waihi Beach-Athenree)
Northern Hauraki catchments.
HISTORY
Formed in 1997, we originally received funding from Environment Waikato, Lotto Environment and Heritage Grant, Lilian Valder Ohinemuri Trust and support from Waihi Mitre 10. This funding helped us establish a base and native plant nursery in the Waihi College Farm Unit.
